What working with me will cost
My rate is £40 per hour plus any expenses. I always pre-agree the time I am to
spend on a brief and have a discussion about any other costs. If I spend less time,
then I invoice less and if I spend more then that’s down to me – unless there has
been a significant change to the original brief.
I can also confirm - as this sometimes comes up – that I am registered with the
Inland Revenue as self-employed, pay national insurance contributions and complete
a self-employment tax return each year. There will be no issues relating to your
use of me as a freelance should you be subject to an Inland Revenue audit! I invoice
on headed paper with a well-maintained invoice numbering and dating system.
What working with me won’t cost
Sleepless nights; irritation at missed deadlines; time in trying to find me; impatience
at poor grammar; unexpected elements on invoices.
On an administrative note
Every draft you receive from me has a quick reference panel showing your business
name, the project, the date and which version of the draft you are looking at. Filenames
are straightforward and contain a version control reference and the date.
The documents I maintain on each brief include a spreadsheet in which I keep an accurate
record of the time I spend on your project.
