Life’s a story, isn’t it?

 

There’s a beginning, middle and end.  It’s a sequence we all understand.

 

There’s a story in the brief you give me … and if it’s not immediately clear, then I have got to work it out and present it with absolute clarity.

 

In commercial writing, the story structure is often the same.  I need to establish the need or problem … and the disadvantages that the need or problem represents.  Then I must set up the answer; your service or product.  I need to say what it does, and I need to identify the benefits it confers.  I need to say how the service or product is accessed and preview that process.

 

And I need to do this in language your audience understands and which will prompt their response.

 

Easy then.  Anyone can do it.

 

Well, from my experience, most people can’t.  Or they haven’t time.  That’s why they ask me.
